Vineyard of Pasterick

25 February 2008 12 Comments

Check out our first episode of Profiles in Wine with host Alex Hill as he heads out to Vineyard of Pasterick, a Dry Creek Valley Syrah producer. Gerry Pasterick shows Alex around and talks to him about why Syrah is his favorite wine and the work that goes into the making of his wines. Enjoy the exploration of the Pasterick Vineyards and Wine Cave.

About Alex:
Having grown up in the wine industry, worked harvests here and abroad, and studied wine intently, my interest lies behind the scenes, in the vineyards and cellars of wine country. The personalities, passions, and practices of the people behind the wine are often as interesting as the wine itself. It gives us a valuable perspective from which to approach the wine. I hope you enjoy the profiles.

I love the cave- it reminds me of an “Upper Room” experience. Great job Alex, you seem to really make Mr. Pasterick comfortable to share his wonderful knowledge.

Good Job!. Along with Gerry’s wonderful knowledge & experience when making wine, he also add lots of love and tender care into each bottle. The cave is an expample of first class at its best all of the way.

My wife Jackie and I had the pleasure of spending about 2 hours with Gerry last week. What a great experience. After we toured the cave, we went back to the winery and nearly polished off a bottle of his Syrah (and Jackie only had a taste; it was not quite noon). True wine drinking, not wine tasting! We plan on returning in the fall with friends. To us, Vineyard of Pasterick is the classic wine experience: real, family, sincere, and unbelievable wine.

It was a pleasure to see the cave…Larry would have loved it, Jerry!

We all know that behind every successful man, there’s a great woman…where is Diane?

Hello Diane! This video is wonderful–showcases your family-style wines and the big beautiful Syrah you produce! And the cave is amazing! I loved the focus on winemaking that your husband so passionately described, and I look forward to coming to visit your winery soon. I’m sharing this video with friends and family, so I can spread the word about your beautiful winery.

this is a very interesting and easy way to “visit” a winery and get to know the owner. there are so many wineries that this is good way to preview the ones you might want to learn more about. i would definitely want to visit pasterick as it is a small high end producer and gerry comes accross……..as he is………a very pasionate and fun guy to have a glass of wine with !

Gerry, thanks for sharing this with me. I have spoke often of your wine and your hospitality. What a joy it is to have a wine made by someone that has such passion for what they are doing. My wife and I so enjoyed our visit with you. We definitely will be back.
