Come out to the Spring Fling Wine Tasting, which is tomorrow at the Masonic Center on Green Street in Newburyport.I’m a big wine drinker, and pretty much drink and enjoy any type of wine. I even host wine tasting parties at my house, so this will be a great opportunity to find out about even more types that my guests would enjoy. There’s just something about the taste that makes me feel like I’m at home, back where I used to live which was near a winery.

I’ll be going to the tasting with my two friends who are big wine fans as well. It will be a fun time for all, and we will also be taking part in the auction. Hopefully I’ll win something, but I will be happy anyway if I don’t. Tasting fine wine is my idea of a good day.

You can find out more information about the event by clicking here.

Presented By Wine.com Purveyors of fine green Wines

If you were to ask my friends to describe me in one way, they would tell you that I’m all about going green. Everything I do, I think about how I can somehow be green about it. If I see someone do something that isn’t green (and can be prevented) I nag them about it. I know this can get annoying to those around me, but it’s something that I’m very passionate about. The thing about going green, is that it’s really not that hard at all. It just takes a few changes in your life, and you’ll then get used it after a while.

Like I said, I try to go green no matter what it is I’m doing. One of the most recent steps I’m taking in helping the environment be a better place, is by choosing to only buy organic wine from now on. I honestly never even knew that this was existed, but I was very happy when I found out it does. The wine doesn’t taste different to me at all, so why not help the word out a little bit? One way that organic wines differ is because they have lighter bottles.

I will continue to go green in any way I can.

I’ve been trying to lose a few months throughout the past couple months, and I already lost fifteen pounds. This whole losing weight thing really isn’t as hard as other people say it is. All it takes is willpower to say no to all of those treats. I’m actually used to choosing carrots over cake, grilled chicken over burgers, and even seltzer over soda. The main key is to keep the bad foods out of the house, and then you won’t even crave what you can’t eat.

The only problem I thought I was going to have to get over was not drinking wine. I’ve heard mixed opinions about whether or not it was healthy, and I didn’t want to chance it. I was then at a party and I declined the offer when I was asked if I wanted wine. I told them that I was on a diet, so I didn’t want to eat anything bad. This guy was a doctor and he assured me that wine actually offers health benefits. I’m glad I now know that I don’t have to give up wine, because I’ve missed it!

Have you ever gone on broomfield wireless internet and googled your own name? It’s interesting to see what comes up. I did my name and there were some links to a 5K I did like 4 years ago, as well as my work website. I also did my kids, just to see what was out there on them. I think it is a good thing to do periodically for yourself, and your kids, just to know what is out there. The internet can be a place where people can get violated, or have their identity used. I’ve read many articles on internet safety, and there is a lot to be aware of while you are online. In my opinion, they should add “google yourself” to all those internet safety lists. It’s not something the average person probably thinks to do, but it would be a wise thing to do, just to see what comes up on your name. What if it is something you don’t want the world to have access to, you know?

I was able to try all different types of wine, and I even have a new favorite type. I like to see different winery’s in different states, and this can really get expensive. In the past, I thought I had to pay high prices for airfare. This time when I took my trip, I was finally able to get cheap tickets. I used CheapAir.com, where the prices are the lowest that I’ve seen. They’ve been a reliable website since 1989, so you can really trust that you will be getting a great deal. Cheapair.com really wants to save you money. I had booked my ticket back in December, and the price actually went down. Luckily they’re are nice enough to give you your extra money back if this happens. I also searched for airfare tickets to other states where my favorite winery’s are.No matter where I searched, I was able to get a great price. Going on vacation can be expensive enough, so I’m glad I can at least not spend so much on just getting there. You can save even more money on your tickets by using a CheapAir promo code

Valentines was a few weeks ago, but I’m still snacking on the treats that were part of the gift basket from my boyfriend. He always gets me gifts from GourmetGiftBaskets.com, and they never seem to disappoint me. My gift basket had all of my favorite snacks from chocolate to skittles. Considering I probably have the biggest sweet tooth, this basket was the perfect gift for me. It also had all of my favorite childhood candies such as Nerds and Airheads. I had to limit myself to only eating one candy a day, or else I would have ate the whole thing in one sitting..I really would! In addition to all of the candy, the basket also had a cute teddy bear. He’s now sitting on my bed, and I will always think of my boyfriend every time I look at him. Now that Valentines Day is over, St.Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. I truly will be a very lucky girlfriend if he gets me on of the St. Patrick’s Day themed gift baskets. He got me one last year, and it had all of my favorite beers. Well I guess I can hint to him that the Valentines Day basket was a great gift. I know it can’t hurt!

It turns out that wine buyers are more likely to spend more money on wine bottles that are are more difficult to pronounce. The reason why this is true, is because they think that those types of wines are more rare and hard to find. It was found that the buyers on average spend two dollars more on the hard to pronounce bottles. This is also the same for cheeses, and I wasn’t surprised about either of these studies. It really does make sense that they would think that it’s rare and even better than the more popular bottles. I will now be more conscious about my decision to spend more on what I buy, based on a “rare” bottle or cheese brands. Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t doubt it if consumers spend more money on any type of product that is considered rare or hard to find.

This guest post from Doris Dillon

There are some things in life that you just do not want to live without. When it comes to my home and personal possessions, I feel so much safer when I am at home, and especially when I am away from home, knowing that I have a home alarm security system. I also do not want to live without my music, my iPod and Bose sound system, my cable music channels. Music is a big part of my home life. I listen while I clean house, while reading and relaxing by a warm fireplace, and while cooking. Classical music makes for a great backdrop when entertaining. It is easy to become spoiled by modern conveniences. How would we survive without our washing machines and dryers? I could live without a dishwasher but why? And I could not get my day started with my Cuisinart coffee Grind & Brew. While the grinding process can be loud, the aromas that meander through my house when it kicks on the morning are great for awakening my senses!

As if i i didn’t spend enough time on my iPhone, now I found another reason to be on it 24/7. I use my phone for pretty much everything, and of course I have an app for every interest I have. From recipes to heath tips, I have an app for everything. A few days my friend told me about an app that all wine lovers (like myself) truly do need to have. Looking back, I really don’t know how I lived without this one. The app allows me to browse through wine catalogs, and even find prices for a variety of different wines. I could even use the app to scan a bottle, and find out more about the wine. Because of this new app, I now have a new favorite type of wine. I simply searched through different wines, and I found one that was similar to my favorite wines. I absolutely love my new app, and I would strongly suggest it to anyone who even enjoys drinking wine the smallest bit.
